Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans shared its support for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
