The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Vehicle You're Dreaming Of

We already knew that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, if gamers will actually want to equip it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many players would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the famously flawed car Homer designed himself in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the enormous vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, players will obtain the family's everyday beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an iconic symbol of the show. For those who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the only cosmetic from the show coming to Rocket League. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the challenges will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also get wheels featuring a television showing the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event coincides with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a completely new map of Springfield, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on Nov. 17.
