The goalkeeper Had little to do to make before the break but then called into action by Arbër Hoxha’s curling effort. His sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker highlighted his anticipation. 6/10

The defender Advanced forward on the ball, something he's known for previously. Sometimes was too casual in possession with the approach was shelved after the break. 6

Dan Burn Always dangerous from dead balls, per usual, but may be a replacement to Stones in defense instead of paired with him. A loose ball later in the match nearly resulted in the first goal from the visitors. Six

The young full-back Another assured performance from the 20-year-old following his initial appearance versus Serbia. A teammate failed to make the most of a gorgeous flick behind the Albania defence. His position is firmly his at this stage. 7/10

The midfielder Crosses on corner kicks and free-kicks were dangerous. Was given license to drift down the left flank yet found himself offside as the pass came in front of goal. Granted a merited rest on the hour mark. 6

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward position out wide and did plenty of the hard yards. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but mishit an effort over. Withdrawn in the closing stages for Rogers, his competition, following a yellow card. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with England’s top opening of the first half, his strike well saved by the opposing goalkeeper. With Quansah staying deep, it fell to him to stretch the play on the right yet his deliveries from the touchline were inconsistent. Substituted with 15 to go. Six

The captain The match-winner scoring two more finishes in an England shirt. His first a classic poacher’s finish and the second a superb finish with his head after peeling away away from the opposition. Now 32, his form is unwavering and England stand a real opportunity next summer when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Struggled to make an impact on the left flank. Was presented with a good opening after being played in by Bellingham yet the keeper made the save. Rashford had a greater effect after coming on. Five
