The past two days have been incredibly eventful. This past Monday, we celebrated the half-decade milestone of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a tournament to determine the top exclusive title of this console generation. You were given eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to face off against each other, culminating in a final showdown where the top game from each platform would go head-to-head. There have been some nail-biting finishes in the initial matchups, especially yesterday’s razor-thin votes. At this point, it's moment to decide the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games ahead of the championship on Thursday.

The PS5 Side

On the PS5 side, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise considering that it took home the top prize at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its victory over God of War Ragnarök feels like a true upset. But to get to the finals, it'll have to go through the most valuable player of the PlayStation 5 era: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a smooth path to the semi-finals, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to secure a spot in the final four. Will Spider-Man defeat a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he destined to become a miniature appearance in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

The Xbox Series X Side

For Xbox Series X has been more exciting. Emerging victorious from a diverse lineup of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the open-world driving game already, demonstrating that a niche category title deserves to be on the same pedestal as classic platformers and story-driven epics. Its last roadblock on the way to the finals is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a crowd favorite, beating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a larger-scale title from an established IP that's synonymous with the Xbox brand? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy.
