Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
